How does green laser fat reduction work?

How Emerald reduces circumference

Emerald Laser uses ten 520–542 nanometre green laser diodes to decrease fat in targeted areas of the body. When the lasers target a group of fat cells they penetrate down to the fat cell wall, boring tiny pores into its surface while emulsifying the fat inside the cell. This permits the fats to pass through the pores, where the body's lymphatic system naturally disposes of them.

Unlike liposuction or fat freezing (cryolipolysis), Emerald treatments empty the fat cells but do not destroy them — an important distinction, because when fat cells are killed the body can only store subsequent weight gain in the remaining cells, which can result in disproportionate accumulation elsewhere.

Mechanism

How it works

Erchonia's patented green low-level laser technology emulsifies adipose tissue, which is then released into the interstitial space. The body removes the fat from the area and transports it through the lymphatic system.

The process occurs gradually over about 2–4 weeks. Because there is no downtime with the Emerald system, patients continue their everyday routines immediately after treatment.

Treatment is a straightforward 30-minute session with no discomfort: the patient lies on their back while the lasers are applied to target areas for approximately 15 minutes, then repeats the process lying face down.
